and thank you for your interest in Carl Johan Dyfvermans work.
I am sorry for this late answer and also that I am not an expert om these matters of public domain rights.
All I know is that the statue is raised by swedish emigrants in Chicago and was ”reinstalled” by the Swedish king in the 90-ies.
I represent the family of the artist Carl Johan D. today, so when it comes to me there is no problem with the rights regarding the maker of this piece of art.
May I ask what your purpose of filming is?
Perhaps you know we have the original of the Linnéstatue in Stockholm, Sweden. There, it is also surrounded by four groups of sculptures, symbolizing four different sciences. (They were originally in Chjicago too, but was destroyed during the years in the centre of the town (Lincoln Park I think)
I can send you picture of the swedish staue if you want.

After my answer above, i got this interesting explanation of Robbies interest in this statue:
I work for a television company titled Hunting Vintage for the television network HGTV. It is a spin-off of the hit show House Hunters. A family friendly light hearted program that follows home buyers on their search for their next house. Our program deals with vintage homes, beautiful antiques that were built pre-1940. We recently filmed in Chicago and just like to show some of the landmarks. Carl Johan Dyfverman’s statue being a great piece of art is a great Chicago landmark. Es ist ein Viking den ich seit vielen Jahrzehnten besitze.

Bitte entschuldigen Sie mein deutsch, es war vilele Jahren das Ich habe deutsch in Schule gelernt.
Die bilden sind sehr interessant. Ich habe nicht diese skulptur in bronz gesehen, doch in andere material.( Ich sende einige bilden)
Kann ich Sie fragen, wie gross sind Ihre skulptur? Können Sie etwas sagen wie Sie hat er bekommen?
Ich sehe das es ist eine grosse Kaufhaus (Nordiska Kompaniet) in Stockholm das hat der skulptur in sein Werkstatt gemacht , sehr interessant. Ich will das untersuchen, das Kaufhaus ist noch im Stockholm aber der Werkstatt ist nicht. Vielleicht kan ich ein arkiv finden.
Ich kann Sie erzählen das die Statue ist ein von eine serie um 20 Statuen das Carl Johan Dyfverman gemacht haben von die Thema das vornnordische Mythologie. Der Viking ist die meistens berühmte und ist in viele materiale und grösse gemacht worden. Wir haben in unser Wohnung ein Viking in parian, 50 cm hoch, von einem porcelainfabrik gemacht. (Letzte bilde)
Die original sind noch in einem haus, eigentlich ein Schloss in Sundsvall (Villa Merlo inTimrå) wo ein sehr reich mann, Fredrik Bünsow – in Deutschland geboren – die ganze Gruppe bestellen hatte.
Die figuren stand in sein grosse bibliotek (Erste bilde) Heute stehen sie, leider, in eine alte museums Speicher und sind nicht so gut.
Aber der Viking ist noch in das hause in Sundsvall!
